Our Story Over the Years
From vision to industry leader.
PL Projects began with a simple yet powerful idea in 2002: to provide expert project management support tailored to real business needs. Over the years, we have grown from a small consultancy into a trusted partner for organisations across multiple industries. Through dedication, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, we have reached key milestones that have shaped who we are today. As we continue to evolve, our focus remains the same – helping businesses navigate complex projects with confidence and success.
| Potato Lane Projects
The idea of PL Projects was created previous to 2002, but officially became the name of the company when Rob Watson told the accountant to name the business after a street he was standing on, Potato Lane.
| Team Formation
This was the time when Rob, Mike and Andy came together to develop a business, the focus was on providing outstanding PMO support to clients across different industries, with an emphasis on staff development.
| First employee
Hired our first employee, Luke Mason, who is now a part of the Senior Management Team.
| First Accreditation
Accreditation of our training provision by the Association for Project Management (APM).
| London Team
Established our London team.
| First Award
Crowned employer of the year at the Halifax Courier Business Awards.

Launched our internal team championships.

Winner in the Education and Training category at the Research, Innovation, Sustainability and Enterprise (RISE) awards.

We say goodbye and thank you to Mike Bates, one of the founding Directors. He remains as a shareholder but will be missed by all as a true supporter and champion to all of PLP.

PL Projects has been recognised in three major categories at the RISE Awards 2024! Recognition for organisational restructure, Design, Innovation & Creativity and Behavioural Change.

PLP restructure to reflect current workstreams and management team to support more clients with greater technical depth.

PL Projects was awarded the Positive Environmental Impact Award at the CaSA Awards 2025 at the Cavern Club, recognising their dedication to sustainability.
| PL Risk Launch
PL Risk is officially launched, a new consultancy specialising in project risk management in collaboration with Allan Robinson.

PL Projects has officially achieved B Corp Certification, a globally recognised standard that demonstrates our deep commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
