Mike is reputedly the academic member of the team, having joined PL Projects from the university sector. He likes a challenge and considers problem solving as one of his fortes, registering as a significant ‘resource investigator’ on his Belbin profile. As evidenced in the testimonial, he likes to ‘make things happen’.
Mike will bring humour to a team, along with more useful attributes: ensuring team cohesion and that the views of all team members are are heard, as well as sorting out roles and responsibilities before finally getting on with it!
He taught on Project Management undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, where alongside running residential project based activities in the Lake District he was passionate about planning and project controls.
Mike worked in the construction sector prior to moving into academia. During his time at Leeds Metropolitan University he created the successful Project Management degree and set up the Centre for Project Management as a result of demand for training and consultancy.
He has worked recently with the RFL in getting them up and running with project management systems and with Alexander Dennis Ltd, where he organised the implementation of Project Server 2010 – software installation, system set up and accompanying training.
He has subsequently been involved with training and consultancy work with Virgin Money and most recently with Leeds City Council. Throughout, he has retained his position as an academic assessor for the Association for Project Management.
I had indeed heard the news that you were leaving the university. Struggling to take it in and will miss you, your ‘can do’ attitude and your contribution to enterprise.
